Students prepare over 5000 seedballs for planting in their schools to observe the day
AEQUS foundation in association with Agastya International foundation organized a seed ball campaign on account of World Environment Day celebration on 5th June 2021.
Ahead of the event the students were taken through an online orientation program on seedball making. This apart they were also made to go through video tutorials on the protocol to make the seed ball on their WhatsApp groups.
During the campaign, the students gave a live demonstration of making of the seed balls.
The program’s success can be gauged from the fact some of the children have gone on to successfully innovate with interesting concepts.
Students from Hubli and Belgavi participated in this event preparing over 5000 seedballs to be planted in their school premises taking forward the green message.
In addition, an awareness session on the Environment Day was conducted by Smt Shailaja Rao, a social worker from Bangalore, in a session where Shri S H Naregal, Special Officer, Hubli-Dharwad Smart city Ltd., Mr. Sateesh Shekar, Agriculture Officer Bhalki, and Mr. Vijay Kumar and V. Jadhav, RFO, Bidar also participated.
The program’s success can be gauged from the fact some of the children have gone on to successfully innovate with interesting concepts. For instance, 8th class student Abhishek Hendarageri from the GHPS Ramapura in Dharwad district has innovated to use speed breakers to generate electricity. Similarly, Shivaraj Mulimani of GHPS Bandiwad, also from Dharwad, has crafted an onion separator to make his farmer father’s life easy.
Significantly, the Aequs Foundation-Agastya partnership has also taken up the task of bringing up to speed some 600 students of the 10th standard in the districts of Belagavi and Hubbali with their curriculum. These students will have to appear for their final examinations sometime in June soon after the lockdown is lifted.
