Aequs, one of the India’s fastest growing precision engineering companies, was awarded the prestigious State Export Excellence Award by Mr. Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka during the award ceremony hosted at Vidhana Soudha at Bengaluru on 18th March 2015. The Chief Minister, Mr. Siddaramaiah, Mr. Satish Jharkiholi, Small Scale Industries Minister and Ms. Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary of Commerce and Industries department were present at the venue along with other government dignitaries.
Aequs earned the State Export Excellence Award under the Belagavi district category and is the only aerospace manufacturing company to earn it. Mr. Sampathkumaran S.T., Vice President of India Defence at Aequs, accepted this award on the company’s behalf. Aequs has major manufacturing facilities at Belagavi serving the Aerospace, Automotive and Oil & Gas industries. Aequs started its manufacturing operations at the Belagavi-based Aequs Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in 2009 with its first unit; today, Aequs operates six units and is constructing three additional units there.

Aequs’ successful growth has created almost 1,000 jobs, most of it in the Aequs SEZ located in Belagavi. Karnataka is already the hub of the aerospace manufacturing in India and with additional investment in infrastructure and worker skills development, Karnataka could compete more effectively for a larger share of the global precision engineering market. “We are committed to partnering with the government of Karnataka to develop further the manufacturing ecosystem in the state,” added Mr. Melligeri.
